After much anticipation and speculation Google took to the stage today to host its hardware event and unveil a number of products built upon the company’s ethos of combining artificial intelligence (AI) with software and hardware. Headlining the event was Google’s two new smartphones, the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL, both of which feature improved cameras and new camera software, as well as a slightly different design. Although the design of the Pixel 3 XL is a little more different compared to the standard model due to the inclusion of a notch. And not exactly a small one at that.
Of course, the Pixel 3 phones were not the only hardware devices announced, and in truth this event was a mixed bag with the company announcing some completely new devices, while others simply represented a minor refresh. On the completely new side of things there was the Pixel Slate which is a tablet that runs on Chrome OS and can be combined with an attachable keyboard for a more traditional Chromebook level of use, and then there was the Google Home Hub which marks Google’s personal entrance to the smart display market. As for the minor refreshes, a new Android TV Xiaomi Mi Box was announced, as was a new Chromecast.
