Below is a little more information on each app, a suggestion for the type of user the app is best suited to, and a direct link for easy downloading.
All download links go to the app’s Google Play Store listing. Users are always recommended to download apps from Google Play or an authorized app store.
The first app we listed may surprise you. Why? Well, it’s Microsoft Word, not the first app most people think of when building a resume. Microsoft Word can be an extremely powerful tool, though. If you already have a Microsoft Office subscription, which many people do, why not take advantage of it.
This app comes with a really nice UI, and good layout tools. The most important thing, it offers dozens of nice templates that you can use and adapt to what you need. You can combine various elements in Microsoft word, from words and tables, to images and even shapes.
With a little bit of imagination, you can use Microsoft Word to create a really unique resume, and make employees take notice. Simply take a done layout, and adapt it the way you like it. You can always start from scratch as well, if you want, it’s a longer road, but a more satisfying one.
CV Engineer is a great app focused on one thing, helping you build your resume / CV. This app can actually help you do that really fast. Do note that the layouts you find here probably won’t blow you away, but they’re really simple to assemble. Most important of all, all the required information will be included in them, so you don’t have to worry about that.
CV Engineer will lead you one step at a time towards your resume. It will ask you for one information at a time, so you’ll basically be filling out a form. You’ll be required to include your skills, interests, education, etc. In case you’re ever in doubt as to what to write, CV Engineer is here to help, as it will literally guide you through the process, giving you tips along the way.
After you’re done putting everything together, you can save your resume. There are several ways to do it, you send it via an email, or save it directly to your Google Drive account. The most interesting part about this app is… you can use it for free, but if you land a job, you’re pushed to make a donation to the developer.
Canva is probably the last app from this list that you’d think of when it comes to resumes. This is an app for graphic design, making collages, and making logos, essentially. So, how is this supposed to help you make a great resume? Well, as already mentioned, this is a graphic design app, so you can create some awesome-looking resumes.
The best thing is, this app is quite friendly towards new users. You don’t really have to be a graphic designer to use it like a pro, not at all. The UI is really friendly, and the app has a ton of templates to choose from. Not all of those templates are free, truth be said, but there are quite a few free ones that you can take advantage of.
You can start building your resume from scratch, or use an already finished design, and adapt it. You can add images, text, and even videos, if you want. Do note that not all employees prefer videos, and similar content, so be careful what you use. There are tons of tools / options in this app, so browse around before you start building your resume.
