ViewSonic Corp., a leading global provider of visual solutions, has partnered with the Smestow Academy in Wolverhampton, England, as the first school in the UK to implement AI myViewBoard Sens classroom analysis tool. Through the real-time information generated by the smart sensor, the school can ensure that the classroom follows well-being compliance, increase student engagement and facilitate a safe and active learning environment for the best possible learning outcome.
“Over the past few years we have been looking for a total EdTech solution to improve general learning
experience of our students. In 2021, we began working with ViewSonic to implement over 100 of them
ViewBoard interactive displays in our classrooms. Harnessing the power of myViewBoard Sens is
our final step on this journey, ”said Jonathan Stokes, assistant principal of Smestow Academy.
“MyViewBoard Sens offers students and teachers the reassurance of safe and engaging learning
environment so that we can provide the best possible education. It’s an exciting piece of EdTech
innovation that we are proud to try and implement in our classrooms “.
“ViewSonic is passionate about providing comprehensive educational technology solutions for schools to achieve better learning outcomes and outcomes,” said Peter Claxton, Senior Director of EdTech Solutions, ViewSonic. “We are incredibly pleased to partner with Smestow Academy to implement myViewBoard Sens in a real world environment, help schools adapt to the new era and create a highly engaged and safe learning environment. Through this pioneering project, we intend to introduce this next-generation technology to more schools around the world, opening up new learning opportunities for students, teachers and schools. “
In this project, myViewBoard Sens was installed on the ViewBoard, which is located at the front of a classroom, to analyze the compliance with the well-being of the interior space. The school and teachers can get an instant view of the status via a dashboard app. The integrated sensor detects and evaluates the risk of airborne transmission based on five indicators: temperature, humidity, occupancy rate, masked audience and close contact between students. If the assessment of compliance with wellbeing decreases, it means that the level of wellbeing is at risk and myViewBoard Sens would be
suggest useful information on the dashboard in real time for the school and teachers to take action. This ensures that social distancing in the classroom follows government protocol, reducing the risk of the virus growing.
From the dashboard, teachers can also get insights into student engagement at the group level to foster an active learning environment. From detecting room temperature, color temperature, ambient lighting, to analyzing students ‘attention through an articulated estimate of the human pose, detailed information indicates the factors that can affect students’ attention. Teachers can look back and see how students responded to the class and, if necessary, make changes to lesson plans or teaching approaches. Furthermore, all data is generated and processed within the
sensor locally without using individual profiles and without relying on the cloud, guaranteeing the
highest levels of security and anonymity.
As a future-proof educational solution, myViewBoard Sens helps schools evolve with the changing world and helps educators achieve the best educational outcomes in an optimal learning space.
Moving forward, ViewSonic will continue to partner with Smestow Academy to gather more feedback on the use of technology and explore more possibilities to deliver greater benefits in education.
